Description
As the Thermal Insulation Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and oversight for thermal insulation engineering activities on an EPC project in the oil & gas sector in Uzbekistan. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and review thermal insulation design specifications, datasheets, and drawings in accordance with project standards and international codes.
- Select appropriate insulation materials and systems, considering temperature ranges, corrosion under insulation (CUI), fireproofing, and material compatibility.
- Liaise closely with EPC disciplines—piping, mechanical, civil/structural, and procurement—to ensure seamless integration of insulation solutions.
- Oversee installation work on site, verify workmanship, perform QA/QC inspections, and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Conduct thermal performance calculations, energy loss estimations, and support heat tracing design where applicable.
- Monitor contractor performance, ensure correct installation to specifications and safety regulations.
- Support commissioning and pre-commissioning activities related to insulation systems.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation (e.g. inspection reports, material take-offs, NCRs).–Ensure compliance with HSE standards, and promote best practices in insulation safety and quality.
Minimum Qualification
- Education: A bachelor’s degree is required as a minimum (any discipline), preferably Mechanical, Process, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of dedicated experience in thermal insulation engineering; must include hands-on site supervision experience within oil & gas or petrochemical EPC projects.
- Proven ability to prepare insulation specifications, perform thermal calculations, and manage installation execution at site.
- Strong familiarity with international standards (e.g. ASTM, ISO, NFPA) and insulation materials (mineral wool, calcium silicate, foam, etc.).
- Languages: Proficiency in Russian and/or Uzbek is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic, multicultural onsite environment in Uzbekistan.
